Who we are

made for u is an app that turns makeup videos into a product list. You share a video. We read what it says, find the products it mentions, and save them to your wishlist or your kit.

This app is operated by Lhovon Ventures Corp., operating as “made for u” (“we”, “us”). “You” means the person using the app.

This policy covers the made for u iOS app, the share extension, and this website.

What we collect

Your account

To make an account you give us an email address and a password. We never store your password. Our authentication system stores a one-way hash of it, which cannot be turned back into your password.

If you use Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in, we receive your name and your email address from Apple or Google instead. If you choose Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the private relay address, never your real one. Google also gives us your profile picture.

We also store the sign-in codes we email you, and when your email was verified. Codes expire.

Videos you share

When you share a video into made for u, we store:

• the link to the video, and which platform it came from
• the title, the creator's handle, and the thumbnail image address
• a written transcript of what is spoken in the video, and the language it is in
• the product names, brands, and shades that were found in that transcript

We do not download or store the video itself. We do not have your TikTok or Instagram account, and we cannot see anything on those platforms other than the single video you share with us.

Your product library

We store which products you marked as wanted, which ones you own, and when you marked them. This is the wishlist and kit you see in the app.

The product records themselves — a brand, a name, a shade, a category — are shared across everyone who imports the same product. Those records hold no personal information and are not linked to you for other users.

Photos you add to a look

A look can hold up to five photos that you pick from your photo library. We store those files and which look each one belongs to.

The app opens your photo library only at the moment you add a photo. It never reads your library on its own, and it never takes a photo: the camera and the microphone are not used at all.

A photo on a private look is visible only to you. If you publish a look and give out its link, the photos on it are visible to anyone who opens that link. You can remove a photo at any time, on a published look as well, and the file is deleted at the same moment.

Your country and language

The app reads the country, the language, the currency, and the time zone that your device is set to. Your country is used only to choose among stored retailer fallback pages when no official brand page is available. It does not steer product identification or the search for an official page. You can choose a different country in your profile.

This is a setting of your device, not your position. The app asks for no location permission, and it cannot see where you are.

Technical information

Our backend keeps normal server logs so we can find and fix errors. These include the time of a request, which function ran, and any error message.

What we do not collect

The app asks for no camera, no microphone, no contacts, and no location. It asks for your photo library only when you add a photo to a look. It contains no advertising software and no analytics or tracking software. We do not use cookies on this website.

Why we collect it

• To give you an account. Your email and password let you sign in and reach your own library from any device.
• To do the one job the app does. Without the video link and its transcript we cannot find the products for you.
• To keep your library. Your wishlist and your kit have to be stored somewhere to still be there tomorrow.
• To email you. We send verification codes and password resets. We do not send marketing email.
• To show a look the way you made it. A photo you add to a look is stored, so the look still shows it tomorrow.
• To choose a useful fallback. If no official brand page is available, your country lets us prefer a stored trusted retailer page for your market.
• To keep the app working. Error logs tell us what broke.

Our legal basis for all of the above is the performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and secure.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of other companies to run the app. Each one only gets the data it needs to do its job.

We send your transcript to OpenAI to extract the products. We do not permit that content to be used to train their models.

We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person or the security of the service.

What we never do

• We do not sell your personal data. Not to anyone, for any price.
• We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not send you marketing email you did not ask for.
• We are not paid by any beauty brand to put its products in your results.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and your library for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your account, your imports, your transcripts, your photos, and your library within 30 days.

A photo that you remove from a look is deleted from our storage at that moment, not later. Sign-in codes are deleted when they expire. Server error logs are kept for a short period and then removed automatically.

The shared product records — a brand, a name, a shade — stay in the catalogue after you leave, because they belong to no single person and identify no one.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• send you a copy of the data we hold about you
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete your account and everything in it
• stop processing your data

Email hello@madeforu.app and we will answer within 30 days. We will never charge you for this, and we will never make the app worse for you because you asked.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be treated differently for using those rights. We have no data to sell, so there is nothing to opt out of.

If you signed in with Apple, you can also remove our access at any time in your iPhone settings, under your name, then Sign in with Apple.

Children

made for u is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Security

All traffic between the app and our backend uses encrypted connections. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

No service can promise perfect security. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

Where your data is stored

Our backend and the services listed above run in the United States. If you use made for u from outside the United States, your data is transferred there. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers out of the UK and the European Economic Area.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For a change that matters, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
